Turn an extra bedroom into a walk-in wardrobe:
If you find it difficult to find enough closet space for all of your clothes, it’s a smart idea to turn an unused extra bedroom into a DIY walk-in wardrobe. Which will make it a lot easier to keep all of your clothes, shoes and accessories well organized. Especially if you share your master bedroom with a partner or spouse and need plenty of extra space for both of your clothes, shoes and accessories.
Hang up floating shelves:
If you need extra room to store items such as children’s toys, travel souvenirs, books or decorations such as candles, it’s a great idea to purchase inexpensive floating shelves, that are a breeze to hang up. Floating shelves work extremely well in bedrooms, home offices and lounges.
Place a kitchen island in your home:
If your home is an older home or simply doesn’t feature a convenient kitchen island, it’s well worth having a custom kitchen island placed in your home. As a kitchen island can provide extra counter tops and hidden compartments, where you’ll be able to hide items such as pots, pans or a coffee machine. Some kitchen islands also boast handy hooks that you can hang kitchen utensils such as pots from.
Regularly clearing out your home of unwanted items:
It’s a great idea to go through your home every three months in order to rid your home of unwanted items that will otherwise clutter your home. Some examples of unwanted items that you may want to get rid of include unused, old furniture, clothing that is the wrong size or which is out of fashion and broken items that you will never use again. You may want to donate your unwanted items to a local charity store, hold a yard sale in order to make extra money or to give away items to your friends or family members.
Throw out expired food in your kitchen:
It’s also worth going through all of the items in your pantry, in order to throw out expired food, which may not be safe to consume and which will only clutter your pantry. At the same time it’s a great idea to go through the drawers of your freezer, in order to check the expiry dates of all of the items such as frozen vegetables and French fries, that may be expired.
Ensure that your bathroom has adequate storage space:
For example, you may want to add extra shelves to your bathroom or to place a shower organizer in your shower, in order to keep all of your everyday bathroom essentials well organized.
